Alex is senior lawyer with substantial experience of providing advice on a wide variety of commercial transactions in which intellectual property has played an important part.
His work has typically included: distribution agreements; franchising arrangements; hardware and software agreements; Data Protection issues; advertising issues (including experiential advertising as well as advising on the impact of the CAP and BCAP Codes); licensing issues; online white-label agreements; brand strategy; and event and sponsorship agreements.
Alex has worked in-house on secondment a number of times, having worked with Universal Pictures, the Telegraph Media Group, Equitable Life and the BBC. He has worked on complex agreements for the interactive games industry (drafting development, distribution, and licence agreements); the music industry (recording, publishing, and engagement agreements); the world of retail (drafting trade mark licences, design agreements and loyalty card agreements); as well as the television industry where he has also advised on-set.
His contentious practice has included work on a variety of technology and IP disputes, such as trade mark infringement and domain name disputes. He is experienced in proceedings in the civil courts and in various forms of alternative dispute resolution, and has particular experience in the discrete areas of defamation and privacy (Sienna Miller v Big Pictures and Darryn Lyons).
Alex is happily married with a young son. He is passionate about art and music, both of which he enjoys himself in his spare time (with varying success).
