Redd was founded in 2004 by Charters, Simon and Sara, all of whom have practised together and specialised in work across the full spectrum of intellectual property rights and law for many years. All of our partners are recognised by independent guides to the UK legal profession as leading individuals in the IP field.
Simon Chalkley
Whilst Simon advises clients on intellectual property protection, enforcement and infringement issues, he has particular experience in advising on the commercial exploitation of intellectual property assets including: brand and technology licensing, merchandising, franchising, distribution, collaborative arrangements, technology transfer, e-commerce, sale and purchase agreements and competition law issues relating to commercial agreements. Over his career he has also advised extensively on intellectual property matters in the context of private equity, M&A and corporate finance deals.
Sara Ashby
Sara is predominantly a litigator advising clients on all contentious matters involving all types of intellectual property. Sara's work naturally covers advice on pre-litigation matters such as enforcement and settlement strategy, infringement, clearance and validity opinions; and, where litigation is appropriate, conducting legal proceedings in particular before the English courts and the Court of Justice of the European Union.
Charters Macdonald-Brown
Charters is also a highly experienced litigator. He has acted in cases across the full range of intellectual property rights in all the main English courts and before the Court of Justice of the European Union, many cases involving multi-jurisdictional issues and parallel proceedings in other countries.
Anna Carboni
Anna specialises in IP dispute resolution and advice, particularly in relation to trade marks, designs, copyright and confidential information. Qualified both as a solicitor and a barrister, she has considerable experience of preparing, presenting and coordinating cases in the English and European courts and currently practises as a Solicitor Advocate. Anna joined Redd on 1 January 2012.
